Earlier this week, Brene posted on her blog 16 things about me. Here's my little list of random facts about me...
1. For Christmas, I once received ONE sparkly, rhinestone encrusted white glove...just like Micheal Jackson's. I played "Thriller" in my grandparents drive-way and put on a concert for my entire family and an audience of my favorite stuffed animals...
2. When I was 5 years old, I memorized all of the books of the Bible. Both the Old and New testaments and in the proper biblical order. I impressed my friends and family by reciting them proudly. Now, I'd be lucky to name at least 5 of them...
3. My first "real" job was working as a checkout girl at the Kosher Grocery store, "Beldens". I used to get super excited when I was awarded with a small bonus at the end of the month for having the speediest checkout lane...
4. My nickname as a child was "Blossom". About the same time, I had a serious girl-crush on "Punky Brewster" and wanted to be just like her. I joined her fan club and waited for weeks for my official v.i.p membership card to arrive via old-fashioned snail mail. I thought that day would never come...
5. In high school, I painted a mural of an old Beatles album cover over my wall...while thick clouds of incense filled my room...
6. I released hundreds of Monarch butterflies at my wedding...and red balloons at my Great-Grandmother's funeral...
7. My girls laugh at me because I often use my toes to pick things up off the floor. I can be a little lazy that way...
8. I adore music and I listen to it really, really loud. On most days, I spend time dancing either alone, or with my girls. In my old house, I had a room converted into my own personal dance studio, complete with my hubby's technique 1200 turntables and huge speakers. I loved belly-dancing, meditating, and creating in that magical space...
9. I doodle on anything and everything....especially while talking on the phone. Lots of hearts w/ wings, one mysterious eye with long thick lashes, and the word "Believe" scribbled neatly with a great big fancy letter "B"...
10. I never wear a watch. Instead, I choose to live by own divine time and follow my heart when and where my Spirit may lead...
11. On a whim, I ran a marathon at 30 years old...and was one of the very last people to finish...
12. Despite, wanting to know how to sew, I have to take my daughter's girl scout patches to the tailor because I don't know how! Not a single stitch, or even a button...
13. I have given birth a total of three times, and on each occasion I've used the power of my mind & meditation to guide me through the process of natural childbirth. No epidural for me. Just the comfort of a big, round birthing ball. During my last labor, I wore a huge white flower behind my ear, and held fresh rosemary from my mom's garden while listening to soothing Jack Johnson tunes playing in the background...
14. I have a deep appreciation for Oak Trees. My hippie parents planted one at my birth and it's grown into a strong and mighty, gorgeous tree. It's branches are beginning to twist, and reach far into the street from where it was once planted. I love to visit it, often around my birthday....
15. I named my middle daughter, Ayla (eye-la) which means "Oak Tree" in Hebrew and brought her home to our house on "Oak Tree" lane..
16. My mom wanted to name me Angela, and call me "Angie" but my father pressed for Elizabeth, and so it is. I sometimes wish that I could adopt "Love" as my middle name so that I could be called, "Elizabeth Love Picone"...
