::: Spring :::
Spring for me was all about music! Dancing, having sing alongs with my immensely talented friends, going to see live shows, and finding new artists to listen to. Here's a teeny clip of video that I took on a random Friday night with some of my sweetest and most endearing friends, Denver and Jeff jamming together in an impromptu midnight session.
I totally forgot how much easier it is to twirl without skates on your feet! Dancing without wheels feels so much safer, too!! To help heal my arms, I began freestyle dancing again. It had been waaay to long. It felt so good to get back to my roots and dive back into what used to be a passion for me. I am so putting myself out there to share these clips of me dancing with stiff and still-broken arms...but I believe in the healing powers of dance, no matter how you might look while doing it! :-) I hope to teach a dance therapy/movement class this Spring to help women to heal body-image issues and celebrate our divine femininity.

Ava gets her ears pierced for the first time and was SO BIG-GIRL-BRAVE....
Mommy makes a road trip to Austin in support of my BFF's book tour....
Then, it was back to the lake and the best dance floor ever. The bow of the boat just before a Texas Thunderstorm and when the wind longs to play with your hair...
Even better in live video, lol...
We are kinda dangerous together....dark and darker. lol...
Next, it was off to Cali for a quick trip. Somehow, my angels and guides didn't get the memo or know that it was vaca time, because they kept me busy-busy!
My, how I would love to wake up to this view every morning...
Heaven + Cupcakes = Two of my favorite things!
Hmmm, not sure which I'd rather do....
Sleep...
or skate?
Hello World! I am now well rested...
One of my favorite places on earth is this little cove in Lajolla....I had originally planned to go there and write, but I realized soon after I got there that I had accidentally left my notebook and pens at the hotel...it was only after my cell phone battery went dead, that I realized my guides were making it impossible for me to do anything other than to sit still with myself, to tune in, and meditate!!! So...there I sat, no lie for about 4 hours with nothing me than the sound of the crashing waves, and the birds above my head.
I ended up meditating on the rocks all afternoon and received many healing messages for myself, family, and friends... When I got there, I was guided to this particular spot. I looked down, and saw a heart shaped rock right next to my foot. It became my muse and traveled over two thousand miles home with me back to Texas.
Here's a little clip of me saying goodbye to my secret and serene spot by the sea...
After being there for the entire day by myself, with just the waves, the birds, the rocks, and my angels, David returned to find me glowing...
The next day, we drove to Laguna to shop and play. That's where I fell crazy in love with this jazzy little ring...
I LOVE the colorful peeps that live by the Sea. Like, this lady who was like a real-life Betsy Johnson...
Okay, so some "nano nano" {it's a word that the neighborhood moms use for when my psychic skills have been activated!} stuff that happened while I was there was all this sychronistic stuff with "The High Road". Originally, it was a reference to this song, by "Broken Bells". I heard it once before it was ever officially released, and immediately it spoke to my heart. I went home after hearing it, looked up the lyrics...and knew it was a message from my guides.
So...fast forward, I'm in Cali and I hear it playing. I'm stoked because it doesn't get ANY radio play, (even on XM) and so it's like a rare treat to ever get to hear it. I think to myself, "Hmmmph, that's funny that I would hear that song while I'm here"...and I begin to ponder the meaning of it. Then, my mom calls and says, "Hey, Elizabeth, your angels want me to tell you to listen to the song, "The High Road, by Broken Bells". I'm like, "Are you serious??? How in the world did you know that song was significant to me/my guides???" (She does this at least 3 times a year to me! She nails it...and it totally freaks me out!!)
So, about 2 minutes later, I'm still freaking out about the whole thing and I look up...and what do I see????
This amaZING sign....
So, at that point...my antennas were up and I knew my guides were working overtime. Mmmmm...it seems I was definitely in the flow.
But wait, it gets even better because, I started telling David about the sychronistic stuff that was happening and because I knew if I didn't tell someone, and have a witness, I might not even believe it all the magical things that kept coming together.
After enjoying the day shopping in Laguna and talking David into getting some delish looking shoes at a posh little shop that were just a wee bit out of his fashion comfort zone, (and spending more money than we probably should)... I say let's leave this hip shopping spot and go meander up the way to look at houses and dream about someday living in these magical hills. He agrees. Letting my heart be my guide, we hop in the car and start driving randomly up the windy roads.
I tell him where to turn, when to go left and when to go right...and together we stumble upon this little hidden gem of a storybook spot. My eyes laid upon this magnificent tree and I ask him to pull over. Underneath the wide canopy of twisted branches, hangs a tire swing...the kind of swing that looks as if it is begging me to jump on it and play. (Everybody knows I'm a sucker for swings. It's one of my favorite things to do...and is a kind of meditation for me...)
As if the tree was made for me, it had my name and a peace sign carved on it's trunk...
I called out to David as we walked back to the car, and mentioned that we should try to figure out where we were so that someday, we could find our way back to this secret little spot. I almost cried when I looked up to read the street sign...Yep, you guessed it...
It read, "High". I literally had found "The High Road".
Wow.
The video really doesn't do the experience justice, but at least I tried...
The next day, we went back to the neighborhood where I grew up and I was able to spend the afternoon frolicking in the park that I used to play in as a kid. It was so beautiful to be reunited with my eucalyptus tree friends! lol...
This pic just about sums up my life and how I'd like to live it:
Hahaha...look, this suite was made just for me!!! Super funny cosmic joke. Don't all psychic mediums get to stay in their very own "Spirit Pad"???
The other MAJOR highlight of my trip was meeting the sweet little Dancing Mermaid, McCabe Russell!!! On the last day I was there, she and I curled up on a comfy couch in a super cute coffee shop and had some serious mermaid-angel-goddess-girly talk. As soon as I met her, I was smitten. I mean, really...what's not to love about this rock-painting goddess of utter awesomeness????
Truth be told, it was the first time that I read her blog when I knew that she was a kindred spirit and someone who I had really hoped to meet. Whatever the blogging equivalent is to, "You had me at hello..." is about what it was like! lol...She is such an incredible being of light, a true-life mermaid who lives in a magical cottage by the sea, painting rocks, teaching art, healing hearts, and changing the lives of countless little girls who are not only touched by her sweetness, but also her sassy spiritual spunk...
Quite literally, this girl rocks.
Pun totally intended! ;-)
Once we came home, it was straight to the lake. Where my dirty mud bugs like to get jiggy with it at Pine Island....
OMG{oddess}!!! My teenager is actually smiling and sitting next to me!! Quick, somebody take our picture. Someday, I hope that she might actually like me, lol...
Daddy, doing his thing...
If he's not careful, he might break his elbows too!
No wake boarding for me this year because my bones were still healing. Instead, I was the resident dj on the boat, and was a really awesome cheerleader from this comfy little spot...
This is what happens when we have un-welcomed visitors at the lake....
Um, yeah. That snake is way poisonous and just happened to be a few feet from my 6-year-old who swears she is NEVER going anywhere near the trampoline EVER again...
Easter marked the one year anniversary of my Grandmother's death. We celebrated her new life by once again making her art and sending our gifts into the sky.
Here is my amazingly awesome Dad, doing what he does best. Telling us his hippie stories about the good 'ole days. You know, when guys rode waves with boards that were longer than my street.
Spring time also meant I was reunited with my spicy friends...and I'm not just talking about the friends with claws. My girlfriends from the neighborhood are pretty hot, too!
The kids built a pond for the crawfish to hang out in before they were sent to the boiling room...
Everywhere we go, we DANCE!!! :-)
Allie and her soccer team at the SHS award ceremony...
Happy Sweet 16 to one of the most beautiful, brave, and brightest souls on earth...
Allie, you are so loved. Please always remember it...
Celebrating this day with you filled my heart more joy than you may ever know. Crazy that I spent my 16th b-day at Fajita Flats, too! Some things may never change, lol...
Drum roll, please. Mommy is about to deliver the goods.
Poor thing hadn't quite figured it out yet!
So, after opening a teeny tiny toy Jeep, a hat with the logo, a bear with a tee shirt from the dealership, a poster of a jeep key....SHE STILL DIDN'T GET IT!!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!
UNTIL....
She opened this....
Three generations, honey.
These next two pictures are just all kinds of tender...
Little Ayla had the next April birthday...which was a bit more low key. Or more appropriately, no key. Hahaha...poor thing didn't get a jeep for her special day, she had to settle for a new tv instead. lol...
May brought ALL my cousins together in the same state for the first time in a super long while...which made my grandmother very, very pleased. This kind of photo op is few and far between!
Ava graduated Kindergarten....
Ayla graduated from being a brownie...and officially became a girl scout!
Just like the sweet little blooms in the picture above, last Spring was colorful and bright. When it arrives once again, I will be grateful for the warmth and promise it brings...
xoxo,
